ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze the quality of education in Special Schools (SLB) in the Regional Education Office of Region 10, Central Java Province. This research employs a survey method with questionnaires given to students and teachers in various SLBs in the area. The data obtained shows that the majority of students feel comfortable studying at school and consider the school's facilities adequate. A total of 85% of students feel that teachers help them understand lessons, and 80% of students feel that the curriculum taught meets their needs. However, only 70% of students feel that the school provides sufficient learning aids, and 60% feel that counseling services are adequate.
From the teachers' perspective, 80% feel they have sufficient competence to teach special needs students, and 70% state that the school provides adequate regular training. As many as 75% of teachers consider the curriculum appropriate for the students' needs, although only 65% feel that the school's facilities support the learning process. Support from school management is felt adequate by 85% of teachers, while parental participation is considered quite good by 60% of teachers.
The discussion shows that although the quality of education in SLBs in this region is quite good, there are still some areas that need improvement, including enhancing facilities and learning aids, teacher training and development, counseling services, and parental participation. Implementing these suggestions is expected to improve the quality of education in SLBs to better meet the needs of special needs students.
